内容記述
内容記述 Hino Ashihē who served in the Second Sino-Japanese War and wrote works about this war became a famous author during the war. After World War Ⅱ, he revisited China (People’s Republic of China) in 1955. This paper discusses his reunion with China and focuses on the travel literature “Akai kuni no tabibito” (1955). In the middle of the 1950s, China started conducting diplomacy through allowing a controlled opening to citizens of other countries, and the number of Japanese who were invited and visited China significantly increased. After returning to Japan, many of those visitors wrote travel literature about China, because Japan hadn’t established any diplomatic relationships with China at that time, so people were eager to know information about China (“Shin Chugoku”). Many kinds of China travel literature were published but a valuation of China depended on respective visitors. So this paper compares contemporary China travel literature and Hino’s work, and identifies the characteristics of his representation of his own reunion with China. Hino wrote this work while reflecting on his military experiences in China so his consciousness of his own war time experiences is prominent in his work. In 1955, 6 years after the People’s Republic of China was founded, Japanese tended to value China, it was called “Shin Chugoku”, so experiences of the Second Sino-Japanese War tended to be forgotten. This paper argues that the significance of his work, especially his telling about his bewilderment, it was considering relationships between the two countries during and after the war. Furthermore, this paper mentions that this work changed Hino’s evaluation in the Japanese literary world (“Bundan”). Chinese who influenced Japan-China cultural exchange after the 1950’s were also described.
