Based on Ms. Sato\u0027s narrative, this paper aimed to clarify (1) what factors cause the activity of \"teaching Japanese using sentence-centered texts\" and (2) what problems lie behind them. The results revealed that Ms. Sato acquired her teaching methods as a Japanese language teacher from Japanese language teacher training course. And Ms. Sato viewed her volunteer activities as an extension of the training, which means she viewed her own activities as \"teaching Japanese\". Although Ms. Sato was dissatisfied with the classroom rule which they could only use specific textbooks, she still devised and enjoyed teaching within the rule. Since volunteers come from different backgrounds, Ms. Sato hoped that volunteers will have flexibility to teach, rather than setting strict rules. From Ms. Sato’s narrative, it also became clear that personal factors, such as the enjoyment of teaching Japanese, and external factors, such as the rules of the classroom and the experience of getting angry with other volunteers, influenced the way Ms. Sato carried out her activities. It was pointed out that this kind of external factors fix the \"way of thinking about activities\" of individual volunt eers. Also, there are problems for individual volunteers to review their activities, because they are restricted by various factors. This problem leads to a fixed way of thinking \"how Community-Based Japanese Language Education should be”. It was also noted that coordinators who connect volunteers with classrooms need to reach out to key person in the classrooms. In order for Japanese language support volunteers to enhance their activities, it is necessary to break the way of thinking \" how Community-Based Japanese Language Education should be\".
