We examined the subjected 2,113 repliers of UPI who entered Nagoya University in 1995 and we analyzed the characteristics of the mental health conditions of the obese students after categorizing into 3 groups, namely, 1) 87 obese students having the scores 26.4 and over in BMI, 2) normal and 3) lean groups. The results were as follows: 1. The average value of the subjective complaints and the lie scale of both female obese and male highly obese students show the highest values, compared with those of normal and lean students. 2. The average value of the subjective complaints of obese students show the highest values, compared with those of normal and lean students. 3. Obese and normal students show almost the same reply ratio in the lie scale and this ratio shows higher than that of lean students. 4. The reply ratio of obese students in the physically subjective complaints shows lower than those of normal and lean students. 5. The female obese students rather than the males show higher average values in the lie scale and the subjective complaints, and obtain higher scores in the subjective complaints, in general. It suggests a slight difference in the attitude toward the image against obesity between the males and females, and we consider that it will be a very interesting subject to be studied in the future.
