内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 In this study, we clarified the relationship between parents’ parenting attitude and stress in their professional lives, and then examined the stress and psychological mechanisms that “toxic parents” inflict on their children. First, we analyzed “what kind of relationship is seen between parents’ parenting attitude and stress in professional lives, and suggested that differences in stress and job satisfaction occur depending on the parents’ parenting attitude of [affection/support] and [intervention/interference]. In particular, those who were raised by “ruthless” parents, which is typical of toxic parents, showed high levels of stress in their professional lives, and had difficulty in maintaining a positive attitude toward life in the workforce. In other words, toxic parents create social maladjustment in their children. Next, we analyzed the actual influence of parents on those who have problems adapting to stress in their professional lives by examining a case study of a woman whose mother was toxic parents, and discussed the mechanism of this influence. As a result, this toxic parent, with its immaturity and complexes, selfishly acts as a “parent,” but instead of overcoming its own weaknesses, this selfish parent chooses to “defend” itself and “attack” its child in a weak position. Moreover, many of these attacks are carried out “unconsciously” using various psychological mechanisms, which are rarely intentional or malicious. Therefore, it was considered that the child gradually becomes mentally ill in the family, which should be a safe space, due to the toxic parents. If so, it would be unbearable for the child. On the other hand, parents themselves often have a lack of self-esteem and find it hard to live. In many cases, they do not even get a chance to reflect on their own lives, and are unable to build a good parent-child relationship with their children. This is a cycle of unhappiness for both parent and child, and in many cases, the parent and child are ruining each other’s lives. Research must be conducted from multiple perspectives to determine what efforts can be made to help parents and children learn from this situation and turn it into a happy life.
