内容記述 | This study examines two lecture-based lessons at a national university through lesson analysis to understand students’ cognition and affect in lecture-based lessons. Emphasis is here placed on the relationship between students’ expressive behavior and both their cognition and affect. Evidence-based data analysis including a questionnaire and video analysis was applied for data collection and analysis. This study finds that 1) students who look at the lecturer for a long time tend to understand the lesson, especially in a relatively ineffective lesson. Students who spontaneously take a lot of notes tend to be highly interested in the lesson, but do not necessarily understand the lesson. Students who look sleepy cannot understand the lesson effectively, but it doesn’t mean that they are not interested. 2)In a relatively ineffective lesson, when students get interested, they tend to look at the lecturer more than usual. However, in a relatively effective lesson, when students get interested, they are motivated to smile or take notes spontaneously more than usual, and sometimes the amount of nodding also increases. 3)In a relatively ineffective lesson, the lecturer occasionally makes a digression which is unimportant but funny, and it makes students interested. However, in a relatively effective lesson, the lecturer uses several teaching methods, such as posing questions which students try to answer, and the lecturer tries to make the whole lesson intellectual and interesting from the eyes of students. | |||||
