| 内容記述 | This paper deals with newly found documents concerning Captain John Moulton (1762–1824), who sailed to many ports of the Atlantic world including Kingston, Havana, Liverpool, Bristol, Hamburg, Bremen, etc. The author owns 47 documents privately, which consist of 7 letters and many “ephemera” that are receipts, bills, promissory notes, etc. Though he was known in his local areas, Newburyport and Wenham, Massachusetts, the captain was not a “famous” person, so his documents were not collected by libraries nor archives. The 47 documents, however, tell kaleidoscopic aspects of the modern Atlantic world, where he experienced the trade of many commodities such as fabrics and his private events such as the tragic death of his loving child. This paper produces the printed text and interpretation of several documents and the whole list of 59 documents (their date, location, type, size, watermark, etc.) ever known concerning the captain including the 47 documents with their photos. | |||||
