Both of the zwitterionic surfactants induced structural disordering of the DMPC lipid bilayers. 内容記述 We investigated how nonionic surfactants (1-dodecanol, dodecyl methyl ester, and dodecanoic acid) and zwitterionic surfactants (N,N-dimethyldodecylamine N-oxide, and 1-lauroyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phosphatidylcholine) change the physicochemical properties of 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) lipid bilayers in the liquid crystalline phase. The surfactants have a hydrophilic head group and hydrophobic saturated alkyl chain with 12 carbons long in common. All nonionic surfactants considered here induced structural ordering of DMPC lipid bilayers, as we reported in a previous paper on DMPC/ethylene-glycol-ether binary bilayers. In particular, the degree of the ordering was highest for dodecanoic acid, followed by 1-dodecanol and dodecyl methyl ester. Both of the zwitterionic surfactants induced structural disordering of the DMPC lipid bilayers.
