After a linear sucrose density gradient centrifugation, the destribution of tonoplast at 30 and 48 DAF was broad and became to narrow with fruit development. This suggests that the tonoplast of young fruit are heterogenous and became homogenous with fruit development. The apparent density of tonoplast at 30 DFA was approximately 1.12g/ml, and decreased with fruit development, finally that of mature fruit became 1.09g/ml. The phospholipid amount on the protein basis of tonoplast was 0.80mg/mg at 30 DAF, and increased with fruit development, finally became to 7.49 mg/mg in the end of fruit development. This result indicates that the decrease in the density of tonoplast was caused by the increase in the ratio of phospholipid to membrane protein. The protein composition of tonoplast at stage was quite different. The level of proteins of 94,70,61,52,48 and 41-kDa were low in young fruit and high in the middle or late of fruit development. On the contrary, the level of protein of 76-kDa was high in young fruit and decreased with fruit development.
