In addition, they tended to have high independent construal of the self as expected. However, there is no positive correlation between independent construal of the self and assumed competence, although such a relation was demonstrated among the Japanese students. Analyzing from competence style, this study finds that the majority of American students belonged to omnipotence type (only one student was classified into atrophy type). 内容記述 The purpose of this study is to investigate assumed competence based on undervaluing others, and its related factors among college students in the United States. It is hypothesized that Amelican college students would reveal higher assumed competence than Japanese students, as they have more independent construal of the self rather than an interdependent one.
