内容記述 | A review of Japanese research on reflected self, how the individual believes others see him or her is presented from 2 points of view. One is in terms of Japanese technical term of the reflected self. The other is from the perspective of who is a significant other. In Japan, many kinds of words are used to represent the reflected self. First, I overviewed the articles dealing with it and categorized them in terms of theory each of them are based on. About one third of those are based on the same theory, the looking-glass self which introduced by Cooley despite some of them use different term. Second, I overviewed those articles from the perspective of who is a significant other. People believe that they create reflected self and it influences self-concept. Who is a significant other is one of important factor in deciding whether reflected self influences self-concept or not. Many researchers asked children how you believe your mother see you. They also asked adolescence how you believe one of your best friend see you. But a significant other has some functions. Although a significant other is a friend, influence of reflected self on self-concept may be different by functions of a significant other. I propose that discussion on how reflected self influences self-concept will discuss from the perspective of not just what kind of significant other influences it, but how they do this. | |||||
