A study that investigated the SRC knowledge among schoolteachers and coaches in Japan reported that nearly half had insufficient knowledge of SRC. In addition, the SRC knowledge of students in teacher training courses at Japanese universities remains unclear. In light of this, we conducted a survey to discern the SRC knowledge of students in a teacher training course. Knowledge was assessed by the number of correct answers that tested knowledge of ten general SRC facts and eight questions regarding SRC symptoms. The average score for general SRC knowledge was 8.65 (median: 9) and for SRC symptoms, 5.62 (median: 6). More significantly, only 35% of respondents correctly answered a question about long-term complications from repeated SRC trauma; only 25% correctly answered the symptoms relating to drowsiness and anxiety. The participants’ characteristic showed little ability in explaining, general knowledge of SRC (R-squared = 0.023).
