The policy of ethnic Chinese minority education inhibited the formation of an identity as ethnic Mongolians over an encouragement of assimilation. In studies that investigate the actual situation of minority education, issues that had not been addressed by local students and teachers are clarified. Furthermore, even though ethnic minorities living in Chinese society are expected to identify as Chinese as well as their own ethnic identity, no analysis has been conducted on the assumption that they have multiple identities.
