内容記述 This paper discusses the alternation of the reflexive and non-reflexive constructions accompanied by at least one body part NP in Russian and French, in particular those that have three semantic arguments: A (agent) MOVE B (agent.s body part) TO C (place or another body part). First, positive differences in the use of reflexive constructions between Russian and French are shown following the corpus-based quantitative study. In Russian, the reflexive is commonly used to describe a prominent motion of A, which is brought about by the movement of the body part B to any place C. In French, however, it is employed for illustrating the movement of B to A.s own body part, C. These differences are attributable to the different case marking system adopted in the reflexive constructions of this type in these two languages. In Russian, the reflexive-marker.s case is accusative and the argument B.s case is instrumental, whereas in French, the former case is dative and the latter case is accusative. Generally, it is solely claimed that the reflexive constructions express with their basic meaning an action by an agent reflected within, which is to say it is an internal motion which never works on others. This paper concretely exemplyifies that such a cognitive mechanism of the internal motion also has diversity and therefore needs further detailed investigation.
